Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe has joined the following associations and alliances to synergise and improve efficiency pertaining to international assistance:
Association of German Development Non-governmental Organisations (VENRO)
Association of German Development Non-governmental Organisations (VENRO) is the umbrella organisation of independent and church related NGOs. Currently, the association counts 100 German member organisations, which all work nationally.
Johanniter is a member of the association "bezev - Behinderung und Entwicklungszusammenarbeit" (Disability and Development). Bezev strives for the equal participation of persons with disabilities in development policy initiatives and development programs. Bezev is actively committed to support a fair and social world and a sustainable development.
Coordinating Committee for Humanitarian Aid of the Federal Foreign Office
Since its foundation in 1994, the "Coordinating Committee for Humanitarian Aid" has met regularly every two months with Germany’s Foreign Office. It also assembles
for special sessions, such as during a humanitarian crisis. The committee is unique in Europe. It fosters dialogue and encourages coordination between participating ministries and non-governmental organisations in matters regarding humanitarian aid.
EISF - European Interagency Security Forum
The European Interagency Security Forum (EISF) is an independent platform for security managers from European humanitarian agencies working internationally and committed to improving safety and security.
German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW)
As part of their strategic alliance Johanniter and German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) will expand their national cooperation to also include international assignments, such as missions led by the European Union or INSARAG.
Germany's Relief Coalition
Germany‘s relief coalition "Aktion Deutschland Hilft" is an umbrella association made up of German relief organisations. It provides quick and effective assistance
in the case of a major international disasters and / or emergency situation. To achieve this goal and to optimise their work they share their expertise and extensive knowledge concerning international humanitarian aid.
Initiative Transparent Civil Society
Johanniter is part of the Transparency International campaign "Initiative für Transparente Zivilgesellschaft". Participating organizations commit to publish precisely specified and relevant information about their organizations in a specific format easily accessible for general public.
Johanniter-International (JOIN), Enterprises of the Orders of St. John
Johanniter International (JOIN) is a cooperative of 16 European Johanniter and St. John organisations, and also includes “St. John Eye Hospital“ in Jerusalem. JOIN was founded in Vienna in February 2001, and has its headquarters in Belgium.
Motivation Charitable Trust
The Motivation Charitable Trust was founded in 1991 in England. Motivation's vision is of a world in which disabled people are included and fully participate in all aspects of life. An important focus of Motivation is designing low cost, high quality wheelchairs and supportive seating units for disabled children. Motivation develop appropriate wheelchairs in accordance with the World Health Organization's (WHO) Guidelines on the provision of Manual Wheelchairs in less resourced settings. Johanniter is cooperating with Motivation on projects in Haiti, Sri Lanka and India.
Order of St John
The "Most Venerable Order of St John", also known as "Order of St John", is present in all former Commonwealth countries. The order established "St John Ambulance", which focuses on first-aid education, and emergency and youth services. St John Ambulance has approximately 300 000 members in 42 countries.
Otto Bock Healthcare GmbH
For projects with an orthopaedic focus, to be implemented in developing countries, Johanniter collaborates with Otto Bock Healthcare GmbH, a MedTech company located in Duderstadt, which offers an array of orthopaedic services, including equipment, prosthetics, and consumables.
UNITED FOR AFRICA (GEMEINSAM FÜR AFRIKA e. V.)
UNITED FOR AFRICA is a fusion consisting of 23 German aid organisations. With a national campaign UNITED FOR AFRIKA would like to draw attention to both the suffering and the potential of people in Africa and to motivate politics and society to commit more strongly to the fight against poverty.&nb
United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD)
United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) is a World Food Program (WFP) network designed as logistical service provider for registered users (UN organizations, government and non-governmental organizations). UNHRD members are enabled to store relief items for disasters in depots that are located in strategic locations worldwide. Because of the dislocated depots relief items can be shipped to disaster affected areas on short notice.
Voluntary Organisations in Cooperation in Emergencies (VOICE)
Voluntary Organisations in Cooperation in Emergencies (VOICE) is a network made up of 84 European non-governmental organisations that work in the humanitarian aid sector. Johanniter regularly participates in conferences, and at workshops held by
VOICE, and also contributes to the organisation’s policy documents.
The German Network for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) was founded by German non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) on June 20th 2011. The members of the WASH Network are German non-profit organisations which focus on development cooperation or humanitarian emergency relief and rehabilitation and are actively engaged in the WASH sector.
