On 22 March, the JOIN Board came together in Vienna for a regular Board meeting. Participants were JOIN Chairman Johannes Bucher (Johanniter Austria), JOIN Vice-Chairman Christian Velten-Jameson (Association des Œuvres de Saint-Jean), Mark Broughton (St John Ambulance) and Eric von Troil (Johanniter Finland).
The day began with our Chairman reporting on his speech about JOIN at the inauguration ceremony of Johanniter Germany’s new President. He also represented JOIN at the Alliance Orders meeting held in London in the end of 2017. Our Vice-Chairman reported then on the Young Member Working Group (YMWG) Forum of the four Orders of St John that took place in Nieder-Weisel earlier in the month.

This was followed by the JOIN Office providing a feedback on the working groups’ activities. Detailed information were given about the Volunteer Swap 2018. Dozens of volunteers from Austria, England, Germany, Hungary and Poland already expressed their interest to participate in one or another swap.
Regarding European funded projects, a final assessment was made about the SOCIALCARE project, which ended in December 2017. Furthermore, the JOIN Office gave an update on a project proposal submitted in March together with our Austrian and German members. Called ‘Raising Migrants Employability in the European Social Services and Care Sector’, it aims to create a modular training system contributing to the fast integration on the labour market.
Additionally, the meeting provided the occasion to meet the JOIN PR, Marketing & Communication Working Group, which gathered at the same time in Vienna.
