From 25 to 26 October, two German volunteers went to Vienna within the JOIN Volunteer Swap program. Sascha and Kerstin Richter travelled from Frankfurt to take part in the ambulance services provided for the big events at the Austrian National Holiday in the very centre of Vienna. This setting was not only perfect for sightseeing but also for gaining valuable insights into Vienna’s rescue services and the work of Johanniter Austria at large-scale operations. The German volunteers learnt about the Austrian health and care system, shared experiences and discussed the differing procedures in their respective countries.
International exchange is an important factor in the development of our services, we can learn a lot from our German colleagues and, conversely, always provide some ideas. In the future, we will step up international exchanges even more!" says Hannes C. Pfaller, Chief Inspector Officer of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Austria.
