Founded in 1974, Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe in Austria provides rescue, transport and medical services with its ambulances and realises first aid trainings. Civil protection, services for people with disabilities, palliative care, youth work and first aid at public events also belong to its core competences. Over thousand employed staff, 600 volunteers and 200 community servants ensure that in four Austrian regions people receive the assistance they need.

Skiing and First Aid (winter season 2018-2019)

Project

The volunteer will participate in the First Aid service on the ski slopes in Turracher Höhe, Carinthia region. The volunteer will learn about Johanniter Austria's services in an alpine area. Additional participation in ambulance service is possible.

The Volunteer

The volunteer will support the team of First Aiders on the ski slopes. 

Where?

Turracher Höhe, Carinthias region, Austria.

When?

During the winter season 2018/2019: from November 2018 to end of March 2019.

Who can apply?

Every St John volunteers aged over 18.

Languages: knowledge of German needed.

Good skiing skills.

Qualification in First Aid requested.

Other important information

Accommodation provided upon availability. Food not provided.

Insurance falls under the responsibility of the volunteer.

Emergency Care Service in Vienna

Project

The volunteer will participate in the emergency care services of Johanniter in Vienna and be part of the ambulance staff in a patient transport car. The team, composed of professionals and volunteers, is dealing with both patient transport and acute care situations including a broad variety of care situations. 

The Volunteer

The volunteer will actively support the team. He/she will have the opportunity to learn about specific services and get concrete insights into Vienna's health and care system.

Vienna, Austria.

When?

In the course of 2019.

Who can apply?

Every St John volunteers aged over 18.

Languages: German or English.

Qualification in First Aid or Care requested.

About 12 working hours per day.

Mobile Care Service in Innsbruck, Tyrol

Project

The volunteer will participate in the mobile care service of Johanniter in Innsbruck, Tyrol, and support the professional staff. The mobile care service is intended for the elderly and ill persons.

The Volunteer

The volunteer will actively support the team of the mobile care service. He/she will have the opportunity to learn more about the health and care system in Tyrol and get concrete insights.

Innsbruck, Austria.

When?

In the course of 2019.

Who can apply?

Every St John volunteers aged over 16.

Languages: German or English.

Qualification in First Aid or Care requested.

Help provided to look for cheap accommodation. Food not provided.

Insurance falls under the responsibility of the volunteer.

About 8 working hours per day.
