Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V.

The Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. is part of the protestant Order of St John, the most important task of which for centuries has been to help from person to person, following until today the traditions of Christian brotherly love.

The Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe is active in many different areas of social and charitable services, be it day care, working with children and young people, or at international aid projects. And always are the people at the centre of activities. Apart from modern means and more than 50 years of experience it is through the people that we have developed into one of the biggest European charity and aid organisations. In Germany alone we have more than 10.000 permanent employees working for the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V., more than double as many voluntary members, and more than 1.5 million supporting members.

Important areas of the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe are, apart from charitable work, also the social services, the disaster prevention, First-Aid and rescue services and patient transport. The Landesverband Lower Saxony/Bremen runs not only the ground based ambulance service but for the fast transportation of accident victims we also operate the rescue helicopter Christoph 4, based at the Medical School Hanover.
