With around 800 employees, the Johanniter-Krankenhaus Stendal is one of the most important health centres in the region. It is a specialist hospital and an academic teaching hospital of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.

The hospital and its history
Since its establishment in the 1860s, the hospital has stood the test of time. Under the traditional Christian mission of charity, it has cared for the sick, including war casualties from the Franco-Prussian War and two world wars. Expropriated in GDR times, the Protestant church continued to run the clinic before it was transferred back to the Order of St. John.
Today it is one of the most modern hospitals in Saxony-Anhalt. Building standards and medical-technical equipment always keep pace with the latest developments.
