The Sectors of Johanniter International Assistance

We take a comprehensive approach to empowering people and enabling them to live in dignity. Together with our partners, we provide emergency aid after disasters and crises and support disaster preparedness. We promote people's health through prevention, hygiene measures, and medical care. We also support the restoration of livelihoods and food security. With our inclusive approach, we place particularly disadvantaged people at the center of our work and support local actors in achieving our common goals.

In all our programs, we are committed to empowering women and girls, as they are particularly affected by the effects of crises. Sustainability also plays a crucial role in our work in order to contribute to a future worth living.

Humanitarian Aid

Disasters, wars and crises bring people into emergency situations that they cannot cope with on their own. With our Emergency Medical Team and humanitarian aid measures we ensure their survival.

Health for All

We support basic medical care with a special focus on mother-child health and on particularly vulnerable groups. Preventive measures reduce disease and mortality rates in the medium and long term.

    Democratic Republic of the Congo

    Since 1995, our focus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been on basic health care in the province of North Kivu. We support rural health centres, for example with vaccinations and emergency care.
