Earthquakes in Venezuela
On the evening of 24 June 2026, north-western Venezuela was rocked by severe earthquakes measuring up to 7.5 on the Richter scale. Thousands of people were killed or injured, and tens of thousands are still missing. Many people have lost everything and are living in emergency shelters.
In the weeks following the disaster, an emergency medical team provided support to those affected through medical examinations and treatment. Together with national partners, we have been providing further assistance to people in emergency shelters since then and will continue to do so over the coming months.
In Latin America, we support people in the areas of health, securing livelihoods and with projects to strengthen the resources and skills of our partners.
