Gender Equality

Promoting gender equality is a key part of our Strategy 2027. We are committed to empowering women and girls and supporting national initiatives in all our international programmes.

This is particularly important because crises and disasters exacerbate existing inequalities, especially for women and girls. They are more likely to experience discrimination, have limited access to resources and be subject to gender-based violence. Together with our national partner organisations, we ensure that women and girls are aware of their rights and can protect them. We promote their economic independence and work to reduce gender-based violence. We are actively working to integrate gender equality more strongly into our programmes, guidelines and monitoring systems, together with our partner organisations, with the aim of empowering national actors and reducing structural inequalities efficiently and sustainably.
