Endoprosthetics Centre

What is an Endoprosthetics Centre?

In our Endoprosthetics Centre, operations of the large joints are performed at the highest safety level and according to the latest medical standards. The aim of establishing centres in joint replacement surgery is to improve the quality of treatment and the long-term treatment results, as well as the associated low complication rates and higher patient satisfaction in the long run. An Endoprosthetics Centre is subject to regular inspections by an independent certification company. Certification is only awarded to clinics that meet extensive quality requirements. Endoprosthetic replacement of the hip and knee joint is one of the most frequent procedures performed at our hospital.

What advantages does an Endoprosthetic Centre offer?

Endoprosthetic Centres have high numbers of operations. Here, doctors, nurses, and physiotherapists have extensive experience in the treatment and aftercare of patients. An Endoprosthetic Centre has experienced main surgeons who are required to perform a minimum number of joint replacement operations per year. The centre has different prosthesis systems for primary and replacement operations in order to be prepared for all eventualities. In addition to complete documentation of procedures, regular referrals and patient surveys are conducted to assess the quality of results. In addition to monthly complication meetings, a so-called ‘quality circle and a management conference’ is held annually. As during the reviews (audits) of the certification company, these meetings are also a platform where deficits are named and their solutions are planned and organised. At the same time, an exchange, e.g. among the cooperative partners, provides important support and can be an enriching source of ideas for future projects.

For our patients

As part of our certified Endoprosthetics Centre, we regularly ask our patients and referring doctors to evaluate our hospital. The patients are surveyed every year over a period of four weeks. We survey the referring physicians every three years. In 2019, we were again very pleased with the good results and the strong participation. We gladly accept tips and suggestions for improvements and strive to implement them. We would like to thank all participants!
