Additional Core Principles

To ensure that we carry out high-quality projects, our programmatic approach is based on certain core principles. In addition to accountability, safeguarding, international standards, and working with partners, we implement the following principles:

The “Do No Harm” Principle

When we become active in a country, we and our partners are aware that every intervention has an impact on existing conflict dynamics within a specific fragile context. Each of our country and regional programs is therefore accompanied by a comprehensive “Do-No-Harm” analysis and a monitoring process to avoid unintended negative impacts.

Inclusion

We recognize all people as rights-holders and place a particular focus on the inclusion of people with disabilities. We are convinced that an inclusive approach leads to better program quality, more accessible services, support, and protection. The specific needs of vulnerable population groups are therefore given special attention throughout the entire project cycle.

Evidence-Based Advocacy

To address the structural causes of global hardship and challenges in healthcare and livelihood security, our programs also incorporate evidence-based advocacy whenever possible. This means that, based on facts, data, and research findings, we advocate at the policy level to improve the living conditions of people in need.
