Trauma Centre

The goal of the trauma networks initiated by the German Trauma Society is the best possible care for accident victims. Out of several neighbouring hospitals, the one that can treat the specific consequences of the accident best is the one to admit the patient. For rapid coordination, each hospital involved has accident surgery points of contact who can be reached at any time via a mobile trauma phone.

The Johanniter-Krankenhaus Geesthacht is a certified trauma centre in accordance with the recommendations of the German Society for Trauma Surgery and the TraumaNetwork DGU® guidelines. As such a centre, it has not only a high level of professional competence but also specialist personnel, and structural and equipment resources for the care of severely injured patients. Patients are cared for in collaboration with other hospitals in the Hamburg trauma network, which is also certified according to the TraumaNetwork DGU® guidelines, due to their spatial proximity and pre-existing, proven connections. Further training events (including ATLS - Advanced Trauma Life Support), data analyses, and quality circles take place regularly within the Trauma Network.
