Acute Internal Medicine and Abdominal Surgery Conditions
Examples include:
- Severe abdominal or flank pain
- Abdominal cramps
- Persistent dizziness, weakness or circulatory problems
- Persistent high fever
- Ongoing nausea and vomiting, including vomiting blood
- Severe constipation or an inability to pass stool or wind
- Blood in the stool
- Sudden unexplained swelling associated with pain
Gynaecological Emergencies
Examples include:
- Severe lower abdominal pain or severe cramping
- Heavy or unusual vaginal bleeding
- Acute gynaecological infections or other urgent gynaecological symptoms
- Pregnancy-related concerns such as contractions, bleeding, fluid loss, sudden severe headaches or abdominal pain
- Labour and childbirth from 37+0 weeks of pregnancy Please note: high-risk pregnancies are not managed at this location.

Geriatric Emergencies
Older patients often have complex medical needs and may be affected by several health conditions at the same time. Our Emergency Department (A&E) has extensive experience in assessing and treating acute health problems in older adults.
Examples include:
- Falls
- Difficulty walking or unsteadiness
- Dehydration
- General weakness or a sudden decline in mobility
- Sudden deterioration in general health
- Medication and treatment adjustments for progressive Parkinson's disease
Oncology and Haematology Emergencies
Patients receiving treatment for cancer or blood disorders may require urgent specialist assessment if new symptoms develop or their condition suddenly worsens.
Examples include:
- Fever in patients with a weakened immune system during cancer treatment
- Severe pain during cancer treatment
- Sudden bleeding
- Significant deterioration in general health during ongoing cancer treatment, including nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea
