Health in crisis, care for allDuring crises, wars, and disasters, health care is at risk. When facilities are destroyed and there is a shortage of medicines, medical personnel, food, and hygiene measures, the health care system is at risk of collapse. In the countries where we operate, we help maintain medical care.
Our goal is to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve, especially children under five and pregnant and lactating women. Through mobile and fixed health clinics, treatment for acute malnutrition, and improved access to safe drinking water, we help save lives and strengthen communities. Health, hygiene, and nutrition education are key components of our work, helping to prevent the spread of preventable diseases. We also integrate psychosocial support into our programmes, ensuring a holistic approach that combines prevention with essential healthcare.
In times of crisis, protecting healthcare is essential to save lives, provide hope, and prevent long-lasting consequences.
Focus on children and mothers
Gaza
At the Al-Juzoor Health Center in Gaza City, staff from our partner organization Juzoor treated 500 patients daily in 2025 - primarily pregnant women, mothers, and children. Wounds were dressed, and communicable diseases and malnutrition were treated. Working in a war zone is extremely challenging and dangerous. The medical infrastructure has been largely destroyed, military attacks continue, and there is a severe shortage of food, medicines, and supplies. Together with our partners, we are rebuilding clinics so that people can once again have access to treatment.

Afghanistan
At the health center in the Farza region of Afghanistan, little Halima was born in 2025. She and her mother received loving care from female doctors, midwives, and nurses. Medical care is scarce in the region, and access is particularly difficult for women. Together with our partners, we offer not only obstetric care but also education on disease prevention, healthy nutrition, vaccinations, and psychosocial support.
